Electronic waste is treated separately from general waste because of what is inside it: circuit boards, batteries, screens and metals that should not go into a mixed load.

  2. Deal with data first

    Anything holding data should be wiped or have its drives removed before collection.

  3. We collect

    Screens are handled separately from the rest so they are not broken in the load.

What to do before we arrive

  • Remove or wipe hard drives and storage media before collection day.
  • Sign out of and factory-reset phones, tablets and consoles.
  • Keep power cables with their equipment where possible.
  • Separate any loose batteries and tell us about them.

Building and access considerations

For office e-waste the constraint is the same as any commercial clearance: a booked goods lift, a permit through the facilities manager, and often an out-of-hours window. For household e-waste the job is usually small enough to fit a normal collection, though large older televisions are heavier and more fragile than people expect.

Electronics go to a facility that handles electronic equipment rather than into a mixed load, because of the batteries, screens and boards involved. We confirm the route for your specific items at collection.

What affects the price

We quote per job rather than from a fixed list, because two collections of the same item can be very different pieces of work. These are the factors that move the number:

  • Volume and item count
  • Presence of heavy items such as photocopiers, servers or CRT televisions
  • Access, floor level and out-of-hours requirements for offices
  • Whether the collection is a one-off or part of a wider office clearance

Questions we are asked about e-waste removal

Do you erase data from computers?

Data erasure is not part of standard e-waste collection. Wipe drives or remove them before collection, or ask us before booking so the requirement can be discussed separately.

Can you take old CRT televisions?

Yes. They are heavy and fragile, so tell us the size and the floor when you book.

Do you collect a single item?

Yes, though for one small item it is usually more economical to combine it with other things you need removed.

Do you take printers with toner still installed?

Yes. Leave the cartridge in place rather than removing it, as loose toner is far messier to handle.
